The Uva Province in Sri Lanka’s second least populated province.  The provincial capital is Badulla.  The town is overshadowed by the Namunukula range of mountains.  Passara is rural and provincial division of Badulla district. Passara is about 250 Km away from Colombo towards the eastern slopes of central hills of Sri Lanka.  There are multiple routes to Badulla from Colombo, Kandy, and Galle from Colombo one can travel via Ratnapura , Balangoda, Haputale,Bandarawela and HaliEla along A4 and A16 to Badulla which may take about 5-6 hours.  All routes are scenic and one can get splendid views of geography changes while travelling

There are many natural attraction places such as Peessa falls, Madolseema “Punchi Lokanthaya”, Lunugala and Namunukula Mountains.  If you like to travel Madolseema wild area, Namunukula and Lunugala Mountains first you should come to Passara place.  Then you can climb to top of the Namunukula and Lunugala Mountain.  Madolseema “punchi Lokanthaya” area is bio diversity place.  Most of the birds are restricted to this area.  Passara and surroundings are highly recommended for eco tourism.  Eco tourism is also referred to as sustainable tourism and green tourism.

Agro Tourism

There are has lot of rural area in Passara division.  Rural community is mainly depending on agricultural field.  so that at Passara can arrange any agricultural experience  ranging from milking cattle on a dairy farm, having a to at plucking tea leaces using the traditional “bag on the head” method or even working in the many attractive paddy fields o Passara.

Bird Watching in Madolseema And Namunukula Forest Area

 Most of the endemic birds are restricted to the Namunukula wild area like the jungle fowl.

Cycling and Mountain Biking

If you prefer cycling, there are many interesting trails in the Namumukula Mountains that take you through a beautiful landscape of tea.

Tour of Punchi Lokanthaya..

“Punchi Lokanthaya” is in Madolseema.  It’s natural attraction place.  But it’s dangers place.   It is depth place in Madolseema.

Passara rural community are supply accommodation facility to tourists.  The eco lodges facilitate to eco tourists.  So that build eco lodges in Passara with getting help from Uva Provincial council and rural community.  Passara is very suitable for built that eco lodges.  It’s build in and environmentally friendly way.  The lodge has been restored using traditional old methods.  Such as coconut palm leaf to cover the clay tiled roof set in garden full of a variety trees.  If rural community can get income from tourist they like to give accommodation facility to tourists using their own home.
